You won’t want to miss out on some great late May and June events in Ottawa. Find out what’s going on around Canada’s capital.

Ottawa Outdoor Happenings

Tamarack Homes Ottawa Race Weekend starts May 26 through May 27. Runners from around the globe will compete in a variety of races, including a half marathon, 10K and more. Last year, 40,000 runners attended Ottawa’s races.  Although online registration is closed for the racing events, you can still check it out as a spectator at certain areas. For instance, viewers can watch the marathon runners go by at the Canadian War Museum from 7:40 a.m. to 11 a.m. And if you’re interested in volunteering, click here to learn more.

Something for the Kids

The Ottawa International Children’s Festival  starts May 30 and ends June 3 at the LeBreton Flats Park.  The event features live performances and activities, from puppet shows and plays, to educational workshops and face painting. Ontario’s Theater Direct and DuffleBag Theater will be presenting along with Scottish, Australian, German and American performers. Tickets are available online or by phone.

Arts and Entertainment in Ottawa

The National Gallery of Canada, minutes from Byward Market, will be hosting Van Gogh: Up Close from May 25 to September 3. The exhibition will feature over 40 of the artist’s paintings. A Van Gogh symposium, featuring art scholars and professors will take place May 26. Concerts, lectures, films and plays are also scheduled during the exhibition. Be sure to order your tickets if interested.

You won’t want to miss The New Art Festival in The Glebe’s Central Park on June 2 to June 3. This event spotlights over 200 artists, and awards are presented for original artwork. Local vendors will provide food from the community.
