Community Spotlight: Centretown

Centretown is a gorgeous community right in the heart of Ottawa. Close to the Byward Market, one of Canada’s oldest public markets, and the Rideau Centre, this neighbourhood is not far from places to eat and shop.

Residential streets offer a mixture of town homes, apartment buildings and single-family homes. Many condominiums have a clear view of the happening downtown area, with single and multi-bedroom units available.

As of the end of June, home prices ranged from $329,000 to $759,900. The average condominium price was $478,800.

Many great restaurants can be found on Elgin Street, close by to The Pinnacle. Head over to The Manx for excellent pub food or enjoy Italian cuisine at Town. Bridgehead on Bank Street is a good place to grab your morning cup of coffee or stop by at the Scone Witch bakery for some delicious pastries.

Centretown offers a range of things to do and see. The kids will appreciate the Canadian Museum of Nature, featuring galleries and movies about wildlife from the past and present. Visit Dundonald Park during the summer to catch an outdoor movie, within walking distance of the newly constructed Mondrian.

Just a ten minute drive from Dundonald, the Ottawa Art Gallery features contemporary and regional works of art.

In the winter, the Rideau Canal Skateway is a great place for skating, bringing all ages out onto the ice. For those who want to stay fit, the Jack Purcell Community Centre offers in-door exercise rooms and a swimming pool, just around the corner from The Mayfair.

See what Centretown has to offer you.
